Expo 2010 Shanghai - Area A

I'll be focusing on Area A of the Expo 2010 Shanghai in this post, so this will be like a photo-logue. Enjoy!

Area A mainly houses the pavilions of countries from the Middle East.

For small countries, they are gathered in one building, like this Asian Pavilion 1 and 3.

(Asian Pavilion 1: Maldives, East Timor, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Mongolia.
Asian Pavilion 2: Yemen, Bahrain, Palestine, Jordan, Afghanistan, Syria.
Asian Pavilion 3: Laos, Myanmar, Iraq.)

An overview of a small chunk of Area A.

Qatar Pavilion.

Oman Pavilion.

Morocco Pavilion.

Turkmenistan Pavilion.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) Pavilion.

Israel Pavilion. Only a handful of people are admitted into the pavilion to watch a movie about its country and how the people are harnessing new ways to obtain cleaner and better energy. It has a 360 degree screen on the wall and a smaller screen in front of the visitors, each displaying different images.

Sri Lanka Pavilion.

Pakistan Pavilion.

Saudi Pavilion. It's huge even from afar. I saw on TV that it has an enormous 3D screening room that provides a breath-taking experience. The rooftop garden is a must-see as well, making the pavilion a major attraction.

India Pavilion.

Nepal Pavilion.

I don't know where the money would go, but people kept offering their money.

Taiwan Pavilion. The glowing sphere is actually a movie screen. The pavilion is a major hit with the Chinese.

Jordan Pavilion.

Jordan sand art. Colorful sands are inserted into glass bottles, producing amazing images.

Afghanistan Pavilion.

Syria Pavilion.

Palestine Pavilion.

Bahrain Pavilion.

The pearl diver of Bahrain.

South Korea Pavilion. The line is fricking long. Great design though.

Laos Pavilion.

Iraq Pavilion.

Vietnam Pavilion.

Uzbekistan Pavilion.

Kazakhstan Pavilion.

Japan Pavilion. Even when nearing 10 pm, it would still take an hour and half to go inside. That's how popular this pavilion is.

Bangladesh Pavilion.

Kyrgyzstan Pavilion.

Timor Leste (East Timor) Pavilion.

Maldives Pavilion.

Yep, that's all there is to it. And also an information counter that was out of view.

Mongolia Pavilion.

North Korea Pavilion.

Iran Pavilion.

Their famous Persian carpets.

I walked round Area A until it was almost 10 pm. It's a shame that most of the less popular pavilions were closed early because of lack of visitors. I wish I had more time to visit all of them.
